Hello, I’m Jen!
I started my Doula business because I want to be the kind of support I wish I had during the induction, labor, & delivery of my three children.
I didn't know that having a Doula was an option two decades ago, & it would have been an incredible benefit to my life if I had invited a support/guide to join me on my pregnancy & delivery journey.
I grew up in San Diego, near the border of Mexico, & I’m the only sister to three brothers. I’ve been drawn to caregiving, adventure, singing, & laughter since I was a young child. I’ve been caring for my loved ones since I was four years old. Assisting my youngest brother with changing his diapers, as well as brushing & pulling out his loose teeth, felt natural to me. I’ve always been a caregiver, but it wasn’t until I went through my 200-hour Doula training, that I realized: I’ve always been a Doula.
Despite having a small home & yard, our family raised a lot of animals. We had dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, ducks, a turkey, a tarantula, & even had an owl at one point. I felt fulfillment in caring for them, & I even positioned myself as a support person during the multiple births of our rabbit, dog, & cat litters. Bringing peace, & being a non-anxious presence for our birthing animals brought me profound joy. I bring this presence and realization into every birth I attend.
As a young adult, I spiraled into self-destruction from unhealed sexual trauma. I felt like a lost cause; dispensable, reprehensible, & unlovable. Over the past three decades, I’ve fought for life & for love… for myself & for others. This struggle, along with many others, developed a resilience & grit that I carry with me every day.
I’m a warrior against injustice, trauma, & evil; I’m a lover of nature & beauty; & I’m a supporter of (& advocate for) human rights.
I have a deep desire to love, support, create space, & amplify the voices of the people within the BIPOC & LGBTQIA+ communities.
I consider it a gift & an honor to help support all people during their pregnancy, labor, delivery, & postpartum adventures.
Much love,
~ Jen }i{ ~
